About Home 4 the Holidays


Iams Home 4 the Holidays has grown to become one of the most successful pet adoption and shelter-support campaigns in the world. The program began in 1999, in San Diego County’s Helen Woodward Animal Center, which spearheaded the effort with the support of Iams. Our partnership continues today. Although the campaign is based around the holiday season, our support of pet shelters, rescues, and owners is maintained throughout the year.

Meet Mike Arms, President of Helen Woodward Animal Center

Meet Mike Arms Mike began his career in 1969 working with the ASPCA. He has held positions as an adoptions consultant at North Shore Animal League America, and most recently as the president and executive creative director of Helen Woodward Animal Center in San Diego. It is here that he founded the Iams Home 4 the Holidays annual pet-adoption campaign.

Animal Center Helen Woodward Animal Center is a private nonprofit organization. Its core principle is “people help animals and animals help people.” The center created the international Iams Home 4 the Holidays pet adoption drive and the Animal Center Education Services program, which teaches the business of saving lives to animal-welfare leaders around the world.
